Mamonga è un trittico di storie che si intersecano, con un ricorrere ambiguo dei personaggi, un uso intrigante di elementi che costellano la narrazione, dai cieli invernali grigi e le strade fangose del primo capitolo, passando per la selvaggia bellezza rurale, fino alle giornate luminose nella grande città nel capitolo finale.
Il tono si sposta da un inizio inquietante ad un finale in qualche modo speranzoso, attraversando motivi come la società patriarcale e il contrasto tra rurale e urbano. Un paio di tocchi onirici, oltre a momenti ironici e assurdi, lasciano volutamente degli spazi vuoti che aprono all'immaginazione.
Il tema dominante, la mancanza di comunicazione e il tipo di conseguenze che può avere, percorre tutto il film e viene affrontato in modo molto creativo.
Mamonga is a triptych of stories that intersect, with an ambiguous recurrence of the characters, an intriguing use of elements that dot the narrative, from the gray winter skies and the muddy streets of the first chapter, through the wild rural beauty, up to the bright days in the big city in the final chapter.
The tone shifts from a disturbing beginning to a hopeful ending, crossing motifs such as
patriarchal society and the contrast between rural and urban. A couple of dreamlike touches, as well as ironic and absurd moments, deliberately leave empty spaces that open up to the imagination.
The dominant theme, the absence of communication and the kind of consequences it can have, runs throughout the film and is approached in a very creative way.
