Al centro di questa storia corale c'è Yula, dapprima bambina, poi adulta, cresciuta insieme ad una contraddittoria comunità che sopravvive ai margini di una discarica, all'estrema periferia di Mosca.
Yula passa le sue giornate rovistando nei rifiuti per procacciarsi cibo e vestiti, ma anche trucchi e materiale per ripararsi dal freddo. La vita è dura ma bellezza e umanità possono nascere anche dalle condizioni di vita più improbabili.
Anche se la macchina da presa non la inquadra mai, protagonista è anche la regista Hanna Polak che ha trascorso anni nella discarica di Svalka per far venire alla luce le esistenze di un'umanità emarginata, ascoltandone sogni e desideri, senza rimanere solo un'osservatrice, ma costruendo dal basso un progretto di solidarietà concreta.

At the center of this choral story is Yula, first a child, then an adult, who grew up with a contradictory community that survives on the edge of a landfill, on the far suburbs of Moscow.
Yula spends her days rummaging through the rubbish to get food and clothes, but also make-up and material to shelter from the cold. Life is hard but beauty and humanity can arise from even the most unlikely living conditions.
Even if the camera never frames it, the protagonist is also the director Hanna Polak, who spent years in the Svalka landfill to bring to light the lives of a marginalized humanity, listening to their dreams and desires, without being just an observer, but building a project of concrete solidarity from below. Because something better to come.
